Windows 11 is new and it is the new operating system from Microsoft after 6 years. In 2015, Microsoft announced that Windows 10 will be the last Windows operating system. However, Microsoft has surprised us with the all new Windows 11, and with the same excitement, most of the techies went ahead to download PC Health from the Microsoft website to immediately check for the compatibility of their PC to run Windows 11. Microsoft has disappointed most of us by showing a message, "This PC can't run Windows 11". Because Windows 11 need TPM 2.0 to install on your PC. That's really shocking! Microsoft had mentioned 64 GB of storage, 8 GB of RAM and more than 1 GHz of CPU having dual cores. Most of us thought that our PC is capable to run Windows 11, however, Microsoft website also clearly mentioned about the requirement of TPM 2.0 chip. Most of us have Secure Boot enabled on our BIOS, but might miss TPM 2.0 chip. If your PC is new and still the PC Health tool does say that your PC can't run Windows 11, then that's probably you need to enable it form BIOS.
How to enable TPM 2.0 on BIOS to install Windows 11?
- Restart your PC.
- When your PC boots up, press F2 to enter BIOS settings. This key might vary between the motherboard that you are using.
- Go to Security tab, and check for Trusted Platform Module or "TPM Device" or "TPM Security" or "PTT". This label again depends on the BIOS firmware or motherboard manufacturer.
- Enable them, save the settings and restart your PC.
- That's all you need to do to enable TPM 2.0 on BIOS.
By the way, here comes the question.
What is TPM 2.0 and Why Windows 11 need TPM Chip?
TPM or Trusted Platform Modules is a cryptographic processor that is embedded on your motherboard for encrypting sensitive information. It often helps in encrypting passwords and your hard drive. Windows 11 is built and provides security by utilizing this particular chip. In the world where Internet is open and every computer is connected to open world wide web, privacy and security is an important factor to be processed by a hardware instead of a software. There are also software TPMs available in the market but they are vulnerable to security attacks and hence is not safe. Microsoft has made hardware TPM 2.0 to be available on the PC to ensure an advanced level of data security.
Can I Install Windows 11 without TPM 2.0?
Installing Windows 11 without TPM 2.0 is not recommended by Microsoft. There are several hacks available in the black market, but it is advisable to install Windows 11 with an hardware TPM. Microsoft might remove this requirement for "special" systems but surely not for any personal computers. How is your PC Health? Is your PC ready to install Windows 11?
